- New for November -
With last month's new pieces having so many warmer hues, I was in the mood to create designs with cooler colors this month. Dark blue, one of my favorite colors to work with, is the focus for November. A collection featuring blue wouldn't be complete without lapis lazuli, and that is the stone you'll see featured heavily this month. There's also labradorite, kyanite, and London blue quartz to round out the mix.

I tried to include a balance of both one-of-a-kind statement pieces as well as many made-to-order pieces this month. With the holidays right around the corner, I wanted to make sure there were options at multiple price points if you're looking for a special gift.

Behind the Scenes
The photos above and below show some of this month's new pieces while they were in progress.

Here I am making sure that the bezels I just soldered fit the stones well.

In this photo I am soldering the bezels to the backplates. After this step I will clean the metal and file the edges.

Here I have just used my jeweler's saw to saw out the silver branches from a sheet of sterling silver. These branches will then be soldered to larger silver teardrops for a pair of statement earrings.

In this photo I am attaching elements that are part of a new earring design. After making the top bezel portion and the bottom circles, the last step is to attach them together with jump ring.

Here I have just taken these pieces out of the oxidizing solution. The silver is dark and matte. Now I will do an initial pre-polish before I set the stones. Then I will give everything a final polish after the stones are in place.

The oxidation is now polished from the high points to show the metal's texture. Next comes setting the stones.
