- New for October -
Now that autumn is here, the leaves are starting to change and warmer colors are all around us here in the northeast. I incorporated some of these warmer orange, gold, brown and reddish hues in this month's new collection. You'll find a mix of different opals, kyanite, chalcedony, and jasper. I also included a few labradorite and rainbow moonstone cabochons that have a mix of both warm and cool tones.

Most of the new pieces this month are one-of-a-kind pieces. I know a lot people start looking for special pieces for holiday gift giving this time of year, so I wanted to make sure to have plenty of options for one-of-a-kind gift giving.

Behind the Scenes
The photos above and below show some of this month's new pieces while they were in process.

Here I am cutting and shaping bezel wire to fit cabochons. I will then remove the wire and solder the ends together.

In this photo I am making sure the bezels that I just soldered fit the stones well. I check for a snug fit without any gaps.

Here I am drawing out patterns for backplates. I like to cover my sheets of sterling silver with tape, draw out my designs, and then use my jeweler's saw to saw along the lines. The tape helps protect the silver from scratches while I am sawing.

In this photo I am using soldering tweezers to hold parts of a pendant together while soldering.

Here I have just taken these pieces out of the jewelry pickle. Jewelry pickle is an acidic solution that cleans the silver after each stage of soldering.

In this photo I am arranging different components for the next round of the soldering. The loops in the middle will become bails for some of this month's new pendants.
