- New for Summer -
Now that it's almost officially summer, things are really heating up both in and out of the studio. With the first day of summer beginning on Thursday, I wanted to bring you lots of cool blues to contrast against the summer heat. Turquoise, a summer favorite, showcases calming aqua tones in many of the new pieces. There are also several new designs with the deep blue of lapis lazuli. Rounding out the mix are kyanite, labradorite, amazonite, jade, and chrysoprase.

You'll notice a theme of circles and ovals in the new summer designs. I love the modern simplicity of geometric shapes set against the raw beauty of natural stones. There is a mix of several larger statement pieces along with smaller lightweight designs that will be comfortable on those hot summer days.

In this photo I am laying out parts to be soldered. If possible, I like to solder a batch of parts at one time to be more efficient. Most of these parts will be combined with other elements in later soldering stages.

Here I am stamping a lined pattern into the silver using a metal stamp. I hit the stamp with a heavy brass hammer to impress the lines.

In this photo I am soldering a ring band onto a backplate. I use a pair of titanium cross locking tweezers to hold the band in place while I solder.
